UBA Foundation organizes National essay Competition

In a bid to identify itself as a socially responsible corporation, UBA Foundation, a subsidiary of the United Bank for Africa has instituted an essay competition among secondary school children across Africa. 

The UBA foundation is flagging off this initiative with the commencement of the Nigerian version called the UBA foundation National Essay competition for Secondary schools in Nigeria.

The winner of the competition will be rewarded with a brand new laptop and the sum of N1million towards furthering their university tuition. The first runner up and second runner up will take home N 750, 000 and N 500, 000 respectively with laptops towards  their university education. Finalists will not be left out as they would also be rewarded with consolation prizes

The essay competition topic is “Me and My career (Career pathing) and applicants are to send in hand written essay entries of not more than 750 words on the topic. The panel of three judges for the competition is made up of professors from reputable Nigerian universities. Applicants are to send their entries before the deadline of October 31, 2011 to the UBA foundation address.

The initiative, which is to be executed across the continent, in countries where UBA has presence is a follow up to the successful implementation of the ‘Read Africa project of the foundation where it donated free literature text books to schools across Africa.

To participate, applicants must attach copies of their original birth certificate or photocopies of International passport data page and must be senior secondary students in Nigerian Secondary schools. Contact information (school name & address, residential address, phone number and email address) of applicants must be submitted and the applicant must only send entries if intending to attend a Nigerian university.
